GE Fanuc Announces Next Generation Intel® Pentium® M Processor-Based 3U CompactPCI Single Board Computer

New SBC Delivers High Performance, Low Power, and Comprehensive I/O

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - March 17, 2005 - GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, Inc., has introduced the new CPCI-7506, a next generation single board computer (SBC) that integrates the powerful Intel® Pentium® M or Celeron® M processor platform with a 400 MHz front-side bus and internal SVGA controller via Intel's 855GME chipset, up to 1 Gbyte DDR SDRAM, and dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Offering a wide range of bandwidth and processing capabilities along with low power consumption, the CPCI-7506 is ideal for multiple industrial automation and commercial applications.

For scalable, high performance computing capabilities, along with low power, the CPCI-7506 offers the Intel Pentium M processor operating at speeds of 1.1 GHz, 1.6 GHz, and 1.8 GHz. For an exceptional price-performance value, there is support for Intel's Celeron M processor at 1.3 GHz.

The CPCI-7506 is designed in the small, cost-effective 3U CompactPCI form factor and offers the optimal I/O flexibility engineers demand for their embedded computing applications. Front panel support includes one Gigabit Ethernet (optional routing to rear J2 connector), two USB 2.0 ports, two optically isolated serial ports supporting RS232/422/485, one SVGA port, and a PS/2 connection. Rear I/O support includes one Gigabit Ethernet port, two additional USB 2.0 ports, two 16550-compatible TTL level serial ports, and a parallel port.

For mass storage, the CPCI-7506 provides up to 1 GB of on-board CompactFlash or an on-board IDE hard disk drive. The CPCI-7506 also offers support for one watchdog, two 16-bit, and two 32-bit software programmable timers. Operating system support includes Windows® 2000, Windows XP®, Linux®, and VxWorks®.

GE Fanuc's CPCI-7506 is available for shipments in late April.
