CompactPCI Backplanes offer bridging capability.

Press Release Summary:

CompactPCI backplanes enable bridging of multiple backplanes and come with rear I/O on 6U and 3U versions. Suited for 19 in. applications, units are PICMG 2.0 R3 compliant with hot-swap capability and are available in 2-8 slot versions. Operating at 66 MHz, backplanes utilize ceramic capacitors that provide safe decoupling of high frequency surge voltages and operate over temperatures from -22 to +158 °F.

Schroff Introduces CompactPCI Backplanes with Bridging Capability

Warwick, RI, May 2003 - Schroff®, the global leader in electronic enclosure solutions, now offers a new series CompactPCI backplanes that provides new features such as bridging multiple backplanes together. Other standard features include rear I/O on both 6U and 3U versions. The new backplanes are ideal for 19" applications requiring high availability in a compact design such as in telecommunications and automation technology. In addition, by routing I/O to the P2 connector, the new backplanes sidestep space constraints associated with routing signals from heavily loaded boards to the front.

The backplanes are PICMG 2.0 R3 compliant, with hot-swap capability, and are available from 2 to 8 slot versions. The backplanes may be mounted side-by-side, without the loss of any slots, using the flat Schroff-bridge located under the rear I/O boards. By using extension backplanes, available in 4-slot and 7-slot versions, a 19" chassis can accommodate as many as 21 slots. Both the backplanes and the Schroff-bridge operate at up to 66 MHz.

The new backplanes feature Schroff's exclusive high capacity ceramic capacitors, which provide safe decoupling of high frequency surge voltages common on newer boards. The Schroff capacitors increase system reliability and lifespan, as well as improve system EMC properties.

Operating temperature is -30°C to 70°C ( -22°F to 158°F). Voltage supply is available with a screw terminal, M connector or ATX connector.

The new Schroff CompactPCI backplanes are available immediately. Contact Schroff for pricing.
