Original Press Release:

Compact Power Failure Protection for 24-Volt Systems up to 40A

At 102 millimeters, the Sitop power DC UPS 40 A uninterruptible power supply from Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is around a third of the previous width. In the case of interruptions or even system failures, the DIN rail module supplies the 24-volt loads with up to 40 amps without interruption. Process interruptions, production standstill times or data losses are securely prevented.

The range of compact uninterruptible Sitop power supplies for 24-volt DC systems now encompasses units with 6, 15 and 40 amps of output current. These offer diverse safety functions. For example, the ingenious battery management system optimizes the load of the connected batteries and monitors their backup reserves, charge status and aging. This significantly reduces service and maintenance costs. A new addition is a 1.2-Ah battery for applications with low power requirements, such as with the 6-amp unit.

All messages and signals indicating the operating states of the Sitop power modules are output via isolated contacts or the optional USB port. Power supplies can thus be easily integrated into existing systems. A software tool is used to analyze and further process the data on a PC. The selectable switch-off feature of the DC UPS module permits automatic warm restart of industrial PCs.
