Commutating Encoder comes in subminiature package.

Press Release Summary:

Model R22i measures 0.59 in. long, without mounting tabs, and has 0.866 in. diameter. Its 3-phase (U, V, W) commutation pattern is available for 4-, 6-, 8-, and 10-pole brushless motors. Incremental encoder resolution of 250, 256, 500, 512, 1,000, and 1,024 line counts are available in A, B, and Z (reference) channels. Slide mechanism allows user to set clearance gap between encoder base and rotating disc. Centering is automatic.

Original Press Release:

New Sub-Miniature Commutating Encoder

RENCO Encoders, Inc. of Goleta, CA; announces the new sub-miniature commutating encoder, model R22i which achieves both brushless motor commutation and incremental position in a very small package size of 0.866 inches in diameter by 0.59 inches long without mounting tabs. The R22i smaller package size assembles to brushless PM motors as small as 0.866 inches (22 mm) in motor outside diameter.

A 3 phase (U, V, W) commutation pattern is available for 4, 6, 8 and 10 pole brushless motors. Incremental encoder resolution of 250, 256, 500, 512, 1000 and 1024 line counts are available in A, B and Z (reference) channels.

RENCO's patented slide mechanism allows the user to easily set the clearance gap between encoder base and rotating disc. Centering is automatic. Operation temperature is -30°C to +110°C.
