Inter-Tel Announces Axxess® Software Version 10.0

TEMPE, Ariz., April 23 -- Inter-Tel (Delaware), Incorporated (NASDAQ:INTL), a leading provider of voice and data communications for businesses, has announced the release of the newest version of software for its Axxess(R) Converged Communications System. Axxess v10.0 expands the system's networking capacity from the previous limit of 63 nodes to 99 nodes and adds caller-ID and routing announcement enhancements to the platform. This expansion may be critical in large deployments, and opens new opportunities within organizations that are highly distributed, such as retail chains that require seamless connectivity for multiple locations to function as one entity.

"The flexibility provided by this latest software gives customers more options to boost the capacity of their existing system and expand their communications capabilities with new applications as their business grows," said Craig W. Rauchle, president and chief operating officer for Inter-Tel. "The centralization of applications through networking is also enhanced by the Axxess' expanded capability, offering the additional business benefit of reducing the costs associated with new application rollout across a large number of sites."

The Inter-Tel Axxess converged communications platform transparently combines Internet Protocol (IP), wireless, digital and analog into a single platform to unify communications into one, interoperable enterprise. Based on open architecture interfaces and standard protocols, the Inter-Tel Axxess platform provides businesses with the flexibility to tailor the system and applications to suit their needs. Support for Voice over IP (VoIP) protocols, such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), allows the Inter-Tel Axxess to interoperate with third-party devices and applications and gives customers the ability to build solutions suited to their business.

"With the expanded networking capabilities, Inter-Tel expands its ability to network Inter-Tel(R) 5000 and Inter-Tel Axxess platforms into a common transparent network. This offers our customers the flexibility to match the system to the individual needs of a particular location while providing full networking between sites," said Jeff Ford, Inter-Tel's chief technology officer.
