The New GW-Series Universal Serial Communication Servers
IPC2U GmbH has launched the sales of a new GW-Series communication servers. In general, the GW-Series devices have the same functionality as popular NPort series communication devices produced by Moxa Technologies. But in the same time the GW-series communication servers have the unique features. With help of these servers, devices that use serial interfaces can be connected to local area networks providing link to upper-level computer equipment. In other words, it is possible to connect the existing serial devices to Ethernet server instead of purchasing new network devices. With help of GW-series servers, different devices like PLCs, machines, instruments and sensors that have RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interfaces can be managed via Ethernet or Internet.
GW series support the following modes: TCP Server, TCP Client and UDP providing quick installation and simple administration. After the driver installation the computer gets the access to the communication servers installed on the network and the server serial ports can be assigned as computer's virtual COM ports. The servers allow to add up to 256 virtual ports to the computer providing extra flexibility to your system. Each virtual port can be configured individually and the independent name can be assigned to each port. To make usual serial device function as network device just connect it to the server serial port, as a result, the server will provide the link to the local area network and the host computer. One of the GW series main features is the ability to share server's serial port with multiple computers installed on the network.
As far as GW51C feature durable metal housing with IP50 protection degree, it can stand installation in harsh industrial environments, the embedded watchdog timer ensures the reliability of this server. All the GW series devices can be mounted on the DIN-rail.
