MSA Announces Ultima® XI Infrared Gas Monitor

The Ultima XI Infrared Gas Monitor is now available from the MSA Instrument Division. Offering the best value for continuous monitoring of combustible gases and vapors, the Ultima XI Monitor is well suited for applications requiring dependable detection without the need for a display, relay and LEDs.

The Ultima XI Gas Monitor is a microprocessor-based, infrared point gas detector. Designed around a rugged 316 stainless steel enclosure, the Ultima XI Monitor performs reliably in harsh environments. Ultima XI Monitor operation is based on dual-wavelength heated optics technology, providing definitive compensation for temperature, humidity and aging effects. The IR technology offers excellent long-term stability, eliminates the need for frequent calibrations and reduces the overall cost of ownership.

Features & Benefits:

o No-gas calibration. A zero adjustment provides reliable accuracy.

o 316 SS enclosure.

o Field-selectable algorithms for a variety of hydrocarbon-based gases.

o 4-20mA output.

o "Fail to Safety" operation.

o Designed without a sintered disk for optimum performance in the harsh offshore environment.

o Operates over extended temperature ranges.

o Extreme speed of response.

o Immune to poisoning.

o Operates in both high-gas and low-oxygen environments.

The Ultima XI Monitor's patent-pending method of calibration has one of the simplest, one-man calibration requirements on the market. Simply place the calibration cap onto the monitor and magnetic sensors automatically initiate calibration. The intrinsicallysafe display provides status on zero and span calibration, along with final calibration results.

Accessories for the Ultima XI Monitor include a condulet assembly and flow cap.

The condulet assembly, an optional explosion-proof rated enclosure, provides a terminal strip for easy wiring of power and signal. The flow cap can be used when an application requires that a sample be pumped through the sensing module.
