Award for the In-Sight Micro vision system validates company's 2008 accomplishments and commitment to innovative leadership

Cognex® Corporation, further secured its North American leadership position as the preeminent producer of machine vision systems and industrial ID readers when it was awarded a 2008 Control EngineeringEngineers' Choice Award for its In-Sight® Micro vision system. Cognex's new product was selected as the machine vision award recipient along with 24 other category winners, edging out nominations from National Instruments and Dalsa.

Launched in March of 2008, the Cognex In-Sight Micro is the world's smallest, smartest, and easiest vision system. In-Sight Micro packs a complete vision system into a remarkably small package that measures just 30mm x 30mm x 60mm. Together with the intuitive "point and click" EasyBuilder® configuration software, and smart VisionView(TM) operator interface display, In-Sight Micro has transformed machine vision into a much more affordable and accessible solution for so many people.

"We are excited that our strategy and solutions have been recognized in this way, but we will not rest on our laurels. We are forging ahead with new initiatives designed to ensure that end-users will benefit from our ease-of-use tools and greater flexibility while our industry-leading innovation continually moves ahead with cutting-edge technologies," says Cognex Executive Vice President and Vision Systems Business Unit Manager, Justin Testa, about receiving this honor.

Control Engineering's awards program, now in its 22nd year, historically called this competition the "Editor's Choice" where the editorial team selected the most noteworthy products. However, in 2006, the magazine opened up the balloting to some of their North American online subscribers, those with the most hands-on experience with the products, and so the competition is now called the "Engineers' Choice Awards". David Greenfield, Control Engineering's Editorial Director, stated, "As in past years, this year's 'Engineers' Choice' contest drew a heavy amount of voting in each of the 25 categories.

The high level of recognition and respect among Control Engineering subscribers for Cognex's In-Sight Micro Vision System indicates increasing interest in this category and admiration for Cognex's product."
