Elma's New Compact Switch Family Offers Six Sigma Quality While Saving Space
FREMONT, California, June 09, 2004 - Elma Electronic, a leading designer and manufacturer of rotary components and electronic packaging products, has announced a new family of switches in a compact size.
The space-saving switches meet Six Sigma quality standards and work well-within specifications after 20,000 switching cycles.
Responding to the changing needs of its customers, Elma's new B08 switch family is approximately 20% more compact than their previous switches. The line is designed to fulfill the industry trends of requiring a smaller size switch with SMD pins, reflow compatibility, and price competitiveness. The first product of the family released is the C08 coded switch. These switches are commonly used in hand-held devices such as two-way radios, industrial and medical instruments, and video applications.
The C08 is a coded output switch, available in Hex or Gray codes (custom codes are also available). The smaller 9mm x 9mm platform offers not only more space for other components, but comes at a reduced price. Like all the company's switches, the C08 features Elma's renowned "Click With A Kick" tactile feedback. The switches are available in both SMD and THT styles.
Other versions of the B08 family will include a 2-bit, quadrature output switch, and a standard rotary switch. All B08 switch products have been designed for 6-Sigma performance and will be fashioned in Elma's long tradition of European quality and reliability. As with previous Elma designs, the C08 can be modified to meet the need of customer's specific requirements. Samples are provided upon request.
Elma's C08 switches are approximately priced at $1.50/ea in volume, depending on configuration. The lead-time is 4 weeks ARO.
