Bridgeport Unveils Compact "Interact 450" at IMTS 2004

(Chicago, IL - September 8 - 15, 2004) Bridgeport is introducing the "Interact 450" at IMTS. This machining center is designed to attract IMTS 2004 visitors interested in a compact, economical vertical CNC machining center. This rigid, cast iron machine has a space-saving footprint of 73" wide x 81" deep, and X, Y, Z travel of 18" x 14" x 15".

The Interact 450 boasts many standard features that are normally options on competitive machines. Key attributes include a customized Siemens 810D control. This system is loaded with many functions and also includes Bridgeport's enhanced "FastOp" package containing time-saving, one-button macro operations.

The machine provides 1,180 IPM rapid rates on all axes, and accel/decel rates of 3 m/sec2. A BT or CT 40 taper spindle with 13.4 HP motor provides speeds up to 8,000 RPM. Also standard are a full coolant system and a rear-exit chip auger with full wash down. The company has paid attention to detail in its construction of the Interact 450 for both performance and cosmetic appeal. For instance, the lining of the chip guards is stainless steel to improve chip and coolant flow and to reduce paint chipping.
