Original Press Release:

The Vega MX2 CNC Retrofit Package Brings New Life to Older Machines

The Vega MX2 CNC is a High Speed, Windows based CNC that incorporates the latest CNC technology including high speed block processing algorithms and an integrated dynamic acceleration/deceleration interpolator with block look ahead. This cutting edge technology means that part programs can be run at higher federates while producing smoother contours, better part surface finishes and keeping closer tolerances - even on older machines.

The Vega MX-2 includes a straight forward user interface, which operators find easy to learn and use. Operator training typically takes less than a day. The Vega MX2 also has a host of features that enhance both manual and cad/cam generated programs. These include both hand wheel and pushbutton jog interfaces, programmable cycles, origins, mirroring, scaling, tool length and cutter diameter compensation as well as many other features that help reduce setup time, improve quality and reduce scrap. Five axis Rotational Tool Center Point (RTCP) is also available.

The CNC's Windows operating systems means that standard Windows program can be run and Windows networking enables both small and large programs to be loaded onto the hard disk quickly and easily.

The Vega MX2 series of controls can have up to 8 simultaneous axes and 216 points of I/O. Standard hardware features include a color LCD display, hard disk, floppy disk, CD ROM, hand held pendant, a fully sealed PC keyboard, and standard windows based networking. Integrated diagnostics include man readable error messages and full I/O display.

The retrofit package includes on-site installation and operator training, and usually takes 7-15 days. The Vega MX2 can interface with both AC and DC servo systems, which means that current motors and drives don't have to be replaced. This reduces typical retrofit costs by as much as 60%.
