CNC Control Platform enhances OD/ID grinder operation.

Press Release Summary:

Digital CNC and motion control platform is offered as complete macro-driven system for grinding part and wheel dressing features. Multiple grind cycles may be defined then chained together to create complete sequences, which can be saved and recalled. Machines with X axis angle travel, a non-orthogonal coordinate system, are supported in operator interface. Also, axis mapping capability enables execution of single-point diamond wheel dressing functions for step/chamfer/radius features.

SIEB & MEYER USA Announces 8th Generation CNC Control Platform for OD/ID Grinders

Provides OEMs, specialty machine builders, and retrofitters with a high-performance, all-digital machine control platform. We offer a specialized applications and hardware solution for Warner Swasey, Cincinnati and other grinder manufactures.

Cincinnati, Ohio - SIEB & MEYER USA introduces its 8th generation CNC and motion control platform for OD/ID grinders. This next generation CNC provides a sophisticated blend of industrial hardened technology with the advantages of a PC-based control that has seen business activity double in 2008. This is a complete macro driven system for grinding part and wheel dressing features that are all integrated into the operator interface. Multiple grind cycles may be defined, then chained together to create a complete grind sequence; grind sequences can be saved to disk and later recalled. No offline or G code programming is needed.

Machines with X axis angle travel, a non-orthogonal coordinate system, are fully supported in the operator interface. The new axis mapping capability allows the operator to easily execute single point diamond wheel dressing functions for step, chamfer and radius features. A part locator measures the part length to adjust wheel position along the Z-axis from part to part; interface to in-process gages can control the X-axis grind for a precise final diameter. Other benefits include data collection, machine network connectivity, remote diagnostic service support and more.

"We have simplified the operation of grinding of complex parts and added years of productivity to these machines," said Jay Endres, SIEB & MEYER USA, President. "We have leveraged our 37 year history to deliver a solution that provides OEMs, retrofitters and manufactures with a control that is easy to install, uses standard hardware components, and delivers superb performance."
