CMM Probe offers high-speed pointcloud processing.

Press Release Summary:

Metris LC50/100(TM) digitizing, non-contact probe aids in 3D part scanning, inspection, and reverse engineering. Its PH-10M/PH-10Q interface enables non-contact scanning to 19,200 points/sec, while adjustable camera and laser intensity settings ensure quality of data acquisition from different surfaces/environments. Bundled with COSMOS CMM and CADCompare(TM) software, product handles large pointclouds using intelligent filters that extract useful dataset.

Original Press Release:

Mitutoyo Metris LC50/100(TM) Non-Contacting CMM Probe Offers High-Speed Pointcloud Processing

(Aurora, IL) If you could you benefit from faster 3D part scanning, inspection and reverse engineering processes, the Metris LC50/100(TM) high-speed, digitizing non-contacting probe now available from Mitutoyo America Corporation is the solution.

The LC50/100 features a standard PH-10M/PH-10Q interface to easily replace conventional mechanical touch probes and enable high speed, non-contacting scanning to 19,200 points per second. Adjustable camera and laser intensity settings guarantee quality data acquisition from different surfaces and environments.

The LC50/100 is bundled with COSMOS CMM and CADCompare software. COSMOS CMM software utilizes the part coordinate system to drive the probe to obtain pointcloud data on the finished part. Then, CADCompare(TM) reads-in the pointcloud and compares it to the CAD model to provide powerful capabilities including first article inspection, tool validation, wear analysis, 3D dimensioning, automated inspection routines and reverse engineering.

CADCompare handles very large pointclouds using intelligent filters that extract the useful dataset to reduce the amount of data needed for calculation to drastically cut processing time. Various formats for CAD (STEP, IGES, VDA) are available for reading of nominal data.

The Mitutoyo Metris LC50/100 non-contacting probe plus CADCompare software can help shorten lead times and yield higher quality when used in applications such as inspection/reverse engineering of:

o Sheet metal parts (doors, panels, full car bodies)
o Castings (engines, gear boxes)
o Turbine blades
o Injection molds
o Foams
o Glass
