Clutches Offer Consistent Timing for Rotary Motion Control at an Economical Price

ST. PAUL, MN Compact electromechanical clutches from Reell Precision Manufacturing provide consistent timing for rotary motion control where cost is critical. The EC5, EC15, EC20 and EC30 clutches are designed for dependable operation and low power consumption in a variety of OEM applications including copiers, printers, paper-handling equipment, ticket and receipt dispensers, mailing equipment, and revolving media displays. These economical Reell clutches are rated for one million actuations at their stated dynamic load capacity.

Based on Reell's patented wrap spring clutch design, once the spring has wrapped down each clutch is capable of accelerating loads from zero to full speed in less than three milliseconds. Engagement is made with virtually no slippage, and disengagement is almost instantaneous, even under load. All clutches operate on either 12 or 24 VDC, filtered or unfiltered.

Reell electromechanical wrap spring clutches provide torque in only one direction, which permits overrunning. Clutches are available in for either clockwise or counterclockwise operation. Typical operating speeds are from 100 to 800 rpm with a 1400 rpm maximum. Overall outside dimensions are 1.185 inches for EC15 and EC25; and 1.312 inches for EC5, EC20 and EC30.

Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation manufactures custom and standard wrap spring clutches, constant-torque hinges and precision-wound springs at facilities in St. Paul, MN and the Netherlands.
