Clutch offers torque rating of 75 lb-in.

Press Release Summary:

Long Life Clutch employs wrap-spring technology that produces consistent and repeatable engagement timing. While clutch engagement time is proportional to relative speed, once spring has wrapped down, clutch output is brought up to full speed in as little as 3 msec. Disengagement is nearly instantaneous. Clutch's rating makes it suitable for automatic door systems, pump drive systems, and any equipment deploying intermittent rotary motion.

Reell Precision Manufacturing Extends Long-Life Clutch Line

ST. PAUL, MN Reell Precision Manufacturing has added a new clutch model that features an increased torque rating of 75lb-in (8.5N-m) to its family of long-life clutches. Reell long-life clutches have an improved bearing system that is specifically designed to increase reliability in machinery with high-hour or high-input revolution requirements. The new clutch's 75lb-in rating makes it suitable for use in automatic door systems, pump drive systems and any equipment employing intermittent rotary motion.

Reell's long-life clutch family, with a choice of torque ratings of 25lb-in (2.83N-m), 30lb-in (3.39N-m) and the new 75lb-in (8.5N-m), finds wide application in paper feed systems for copiers, collators, finishing equipment and mailing equipment.

"In a copier application," says Rob Jackson, Reell vice president and co-general manager, "these clutches are designed to operate for up to 75-100 million bearing revolutions, making them ideal for use in systems that produce over 75 copies per minute. This is three or more times the bearing life of Reell's standard clutches and promises to improve the reliability of applications where this advanced bearing technology has not previously been used."

Reell clutches employ wrap-spring technology that produces consistent and repeatable engagement timing -- an important factor in the reliable operation of high-speed equipment. While clutch engagement time is proportional to relative speed, once the spring has wrapped down, the clutch output is brought up to full speed in as little as 3 milliseconds. Disengagement is also nearly instantaneous.

Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation manufactures custom and standard wrap spring clutches, constant-torque hinges and precision-wound springs at facilities in St. Paul, MN and the Netherlands. In addition to paper handling equipment, the company's clutches are well suited for use in automotive, appliance and power tool applications. Its custom and standard constant-torque hinges are used in laptop computers, medical equipment, automobiles and enclosures. Reell's precision-wound springs find use in a wide variety of close-tolerance applications.
