OptiFlex(TM) Supply Chain Software Added to Omnicell Color Touch Supply Cabinets

DALLAS, Feb. 14 -- Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMCL) today announced a major advancement in its supply management system with the integration of OptiFlex software and closed supply cabinets.

The announcement was made today at the 2005 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition being held this week in Dallas, Texas.

The all-in-one system combines color monitor, scanner, keyboard and cabinet in a single unit.

"We've taken our powerful, industry-leading supply management software and put it into one compact, streamlined system," explained David Mason, vice president of Omnicell's OptiFlex Division. "We also have created an upgrade path for existing customers."

Mason says this gives Omnicell customers the choice between purchasing industry-standard hardware and operating the software in an "open" environment or purchasing the complete system (both hardware and software) from Omnicell which can be serviced by the Omnicell service team. Optimum flexibility for customers is critical in the development of hospital automation technology.

"Many new hospitals want technology as compact and streamlined as possible, and OptiFlex Color Touch meets that requirement," he added.

About Omnicell's OptiFlex Product Line

Omnicell's OptiFlex product line provides innovative, end-to-end solutions for supply chain management for use in the materials management department, the nursing unit, specialty areas, and the patient's bedside. They integrate seamlessly with other systems and utilize bar code technology extensively.

Open systems facilitate inventory management of medical-surgical supplies stored on open shelves, allowing caregivers to easily issue items to patients. This easy-to-use, software-only solution saves time for caregivers, reduces consumption, prevents stock-outs, automates replenishment, and provides accurate, real-time inventory reports, enabling more efficient supply management.

Cabinet-based automated dispensing systems provide convenience and control over supplies at the point of use, helping improve cost management, reduce consumption, and ultimately ensure better patient care by improving nursing efficiency. Dispensing cabinets are available in multiple sizes and configurations for maximum flexibility and space efficiency for all areas of the healthcare facility.

Integrated systems combine open and cabinet-based supply inventory management in one solution. Tailored for nursing workflow, this comprehensive, flexible system enables quick and easy access to supplies, improved data capture with all supplies managed on a single central server, reduced consumption and inventory, and increased efficiency.

OptiFlex solutions for the cath lab and the surgical services department include integrated systems, cabinet-based systems, automated procurement, and data analysis and decision support tools.
