Logical Images Releases VisualDx Version 5.0

Point-of-Care Visual Disease Identification Software System Includes More Intuitive User Interface for Faster, More Accurate Diagnoses

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 11 -- Logical Images, a developer of software that helps clinicians make faster and more accurate diagnoses of visually identifiable conditions, today announced the release of VisualDx 5.0. This updated edition of the VisualDx clinical decision support software system introduces new features that increase the speed and efficiency with which doctors can identify and treat visually diagnosable diseases.

As diagnostic medicine becomes more complex, healthcare professionals require better tools for identifying unusual or easily misdiagnosed disorders. By merging medical imaging with clinical information, VisualDx provides a technologically advanced approach to point-of-care decision making and disease recognition. In its latest iteration, VisualDx 5.0 has added an improved user interface for easier, faster diagnosis. The remodeled interface includes ICD-9 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems) codes imbedded in the text for easy referencing; a restructured front screen for more efficient navigation with module selection guides, easily cleared findings and health alert links; and enhanced body location image sorting for faster diagnosis.

"With the increased prevalence of rare and contagious diseases, it's essential that health care providers be able to quickly identify and treat disorders," said Dr. Art Papier, Chief Scientific Officer of Logical Images. "VisualDx 5.0 is an invaluable tool in the process of rapid and accurate differential diagnosis. Most doctors in the United States have probably never diagnosed a patient with Avian Influenza H5N1, yet it's vital-both for the health of the patient and for the public-that these kinds of cases be identified as quickly as possible. The strength of VisualDx 5.0 lies in the intuitive manner in which it organizes and presents data, allowing doctors to supplement their experience with a vast database of easily accessible clinical information."

Used in over 400 locations in 32 states, VisualDx represents a comprehensive resource for visually identifiable diseases. Health care professionals can enter observations, symptoms, a patient's medical history and test results and then compare the patient's visual or radiological presentation side-by-side with images of possible diagnoses, sorted by relevance. In May of 2006, Logical Images updated VisualDx with Acute Pulmonary Infections and neonate and infant dermatological modules, creating a library of 18 discrete modules including rashes, growths and lesions in adult and pediatric patients, drug eruptions, oral lesions and growths, terrorism recognition, international travel, and female and male genital rashes and growths.
