CL-6 Laser Cutting System Ups Performance and Value with No-Cost Upgrade to 2500 Watts of Cutting Power

April, 2007 - A value-leader at precision laser cutting of part shapes from a wide variety of flat materials, the CINCINNATI CL-6 laser cutting system offers greater performance for the money with upgrade to a new GE Fanuc C200E "Level UP" resonator. A GE "Ecomagination" development, the innovative resonator puts out 2500 watts for superior cutting speeds to the previous 2000 watt model, yet at the same price, electrical input and chiller load. The upgraded CL-6 can cut thicker materials faster with no increase in operating costs. The CL-6 is an industry favorite as a first laser due to its ease of use, allowing shops to cut accurate, high-quality parts in short or long runs within hours of installations.

The versatile CL-6 is available in 4 x 8 and 5 x 10 ft. table sizes, with the option of dual interchangeable pallets. This allows operators to unload parts and reload material on one pallet while the laser cuts parts on the other. Pallet change takes just seconds, enabling near-continuous cutting.

An ideal job shop laser, the CL-6 can productively cut a wide variety of metals, as well as wood, acrylic and plastics, rubber, and fabrics. The standard non-contact heads maintains exact standoff from conductive materials, enabling the user to precisely cut sheets that are not perfectly flat. An optional tactile head optimizes processing of other materials.

A Windows NT(TM) control enables even new operators to easily store and load production programs. Ethernet allows efficient downloading of part programs. CAM programming and nesting software from Cincinnati converts 2-D CAD files into machine code that utilizes all the capabilities of the machine, optimizing productivity and part quality. A user-friendly Windows® interface make it easy to program parts and nests quickly using the latest cutting technologies.

Advanced features assure the highest quality parts. Dynamic Power Control (DPC(TM)), standard on the CL-6, automatically adjusts laser power to feedrate to maintain consistent kerf width and edge condition. DPC eliminates involved CNC programming of power control. Enhanced pulsing produces smooth edges, reduces heat-affected zone (HAZ) and is especially effective at accurate cutting of intricate features. "Look ahead" control capability anticipates and corrects against tool path errors, increasing hole-cutting feedrates and creating more accurate contours. A Rapid Pierce option significantly reduces time in piercing 3/16" or thicker materials and can greatly reduce overall processing time on parts or nests that require numerous pierces.

Cincinnati's unique heavy-plate construction continues the CL-6 value formula. Fabricated from 3/4" to 1-1/2" steel, the heavy-weight frame provides exceptional damping and rigidity, essential to optical stability, to give the CL-6 best-in-class cutting accuracy. Easily industry's most economical laser in price per pound, the heavy-plate platform stands up to the rigors of material handling in a fabricating shop and delivers longer service life with higher retained/resale value.
