Circular Connector from ITT Industries, Cannon Now Available in 37- and 51-Way Styles

NEWTON, Mass. - September 8, 2004 - ITT Industries, Cannon has added 37- and 51-way versions to its APD series of circular DIN72585 connectors. Designed specifically for automotive, transportation and industrial environment applications, including those subject to high shock and vibration, the new higher pin count versions will reduce the number of connectors required, saving overall costs and valuable space.

Like all members of the APD series, the 37- and 51-way styles feature light weight composite bodies that are extremely cost-effective. Bayonet coupling ensures a tight, vibration-resistant connection, and the connectors are sealed up to IP69K. The 51-way product is also available with a secondary locking system for added security and features up to eight mechanical key and visual color coding options to eliminate mis-mating.

APD series 37- and 51-way connectors are rated for a maximum of 12A at 85°C (105°C for short durations), or for 2A at 120°C (for the 51-way device only). Insulation resistance is 10MΩ and the connectors are voltage proof to 1000VAC.

The 37- and 51-way connectors are rated for 20 mating cycles and 40 mating cycles, respectively. Pricing for standard plugs at 1,000 pieces is approximately $4.50.

The APD series is designed for a range of transportation applications such as braking systems, power distribution, battery links, sensor applications, lighting, gear and power steering controls in private, public and industrial vehicles. The APD series is also suitable for a wide variety of industrial, power and sensing applications. The APD series can be modified for customers' application-specific demands.
