CIBER Helps Glendale Community College Upgrade Systems to Better Serve Students and Staff

IMPLEMENTS ORACLE'S PEOPLESOFT CAMPUS SOLUTIONS AND E-BUSINESS SUITE

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. - Students at Glendale Community College (GCC), just outside Los Angeles, now have more self-service options and staff members can more easily manage their workloads thanks to an implementation of Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and the Oracle E-Business Suite Human Capital Management (HCM). CIBER managed the implementations and provided added functionality to automate application processes as well as academic advising services.

The software upgrades systems that the school uses for admissions, enrollment, student records, financial tracking and more. Along with streamlining processes and helping the school more easily meet stringent state requirements related to reporting on financial aid, matriculation and other data, the systems improve self-service capabilities for students. "Now students are able to go out to a self-service site, view their bills and financial aid packages, and accept financial aid," noted Dewey Holleman, CIBER's delivery manager on the project. He adds that the system also allows for self-service updates to basic student records, such as addresses and phone numbers.

After completing the Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and the Oracle E-Business Suite HCM implementation, CIBER created add-on applications. One automates application processes for international students. Another provides a tool for academic advisors to review courses a student has already taken, examine what's needed for the targeted degree and customize an education plan the student can follow.

"Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and the Oracle E-Business Suite HCM truly enhance the support and service we offer our students," said Susan Courtey, director of business services for the college. "They enable students to get the help they need online and also make it easier for our academic advisors to track student progress and recommend courses each term."

According to Courtey, GCC chose CIBER because the consulting company had the right mix of experience with the software as well as a solid track record of skill and responsiveness in completing similar projects for other California community colleges.

"This engagement was an excellent example of how customers, once empowered by standard software packages, envision more," said Henry Tran, director for CIBER's ERP practice in the educational market. "GCC took a phased approach to implementation, so parts of the upgrade have been live since early 2010. But, the school also realized it could customize Oracle's solutions to deliver services targeted specifically to the students it serves. CIBER was proud to be part of the additional application development that delivered an excellent solution for GCC."
