ChoicePoint® Improves Drug Testing Process through Digital Chain-of-Custody Product

ALPHARETTA, Ga., July 10 /-- ChoicePoint (NYSE:CPS) announces the launch of a new digital chain-of-custody product designed to improve the drug testing process. While the drug testing industry has traditionally been paper-based, new technologies now allow for a more efficient digital-based chain-of-custody process. ChoicePoint has created a standard for the digital process, thereby improving efficiency and results.

"This innovative new solution enables collection sites to send immediate updates to ChoicePoint, eliminating the scan/fax process and stocking of lab forms through the use of an electronic forms process," said Bill Whitford, senior vice president and general manager, Screening and Authentication Services. "Ultimately, companies that are conducting the drug screens get information faster and are able to make informed hiring decisions more rapidly."

ChoicePoint's digital chain-of-custody product uses digital pen and paper technology to capture data and signatures for secure electronic delivery. The technology also handles the pre-population of data between customers and clinics to reduce data entry at the collection site.

"Employers will be able to determine if a donor arrived at the collection site within the required collection period," said Steve Gatt, assistant vice president of marketing occupational health services, Screening and Authentication Services. "It will also provide instant 'negative' test results when the collection site performs the test."

Not only does the digital chain-of-custody provide real-time visibility and status regarding the digital form being completed at the collection site, it also improves information storage. A highly accurate digital image of each form is automatically created. In the event the form is lost or destroyed, an electronic memory of the file is available. Storing, archiving and retrieving documents is also easier. Information is more secure because each individual is assigned their own digital file.
