CEW Develops Maintenance-free Wheels Used in Sports Wheelchairs for Students

This wheelchair is designed for mixed, disabled and able-bodied students to be used during physical education programs conducted in schools. VRD Products, Inc. was looking for wheels that would meet the physical demands placed on the wheelchair. CEW offered the solution with the X-CORE 6 spoke wheel.



The X-CORE 6 spoke wheel is 24" X 1" in size and features six spokes. These dimensions ensure superior comfort, stability, and navigation at faster speeds.



This product is the result of CEW's unique manufacturing method known as 'Lostcore Molding'. This injection molding process is exclusive to CEW, where the wheel is manufactured whole. Every part of the wheel - be it the spokes or the rim are part of a single structure. This means no loose parts, no maintenance, very easy clean and above all, no unexpected breakdowns.



The wheels include CEW's AERO-FLEX™ Microcellularpolyurethane tires. These solid non-pneumatic tires are virtually maintenance-free, since they do not need to be filled with air. They also exhibit shock absorbing properties. The wheels feature hook-bead rims that lock the tires in place and keep them from rolling off. Although this method is used to engineer military and aerospace grade products, CEW has applied this method to create its various wheel products.



The material and build are conjointly able to offer the user undeniable comfort and provide superior performance.This material is resilient in nature, performing seamlessly across various terrains, speeds, and weather conditions. The composite material is extremely lightweight, making it easier to navigate. This product has equipped specially-abled people with immense independence.
