New Certified-Accurate Checkweigher Targets High-Rate Food Can Lines
Versa Teorema runs at 660 cans per minute; combines the company's latest controller and weigh table
MINNEAPOLIS – Food processors running high-rate can lines will now benefit from a new certified-accurate checkweighing system that features the latest controller and weigh table technology.Â
The new Thermo Scientific Versa Teorema checkweigher features a combination of the latest Versa checkweigher controller technology with the Teorema "no moving parts" weigh table. This combination allows worry-free, accurate operation in harsh environments at line rates up to 660 cans per minute. It is ideally suited for checkweighing a wide variety of canned food products including soups, vegetables, fruits, beans, sauces and seafood.
The United Kingdom's National Measurement Office (NMO) has certified that the Versa Teorema is in compliance with European Council Directive 2004/22/EC for measuring instruments. Further, the Teorema has been certified by NMO for accuracy class XIII(1) (e ≥ 0.5 g) under the Measuring Instruments Directive and the Organisation Internationale de Metrologie Legale (OIML R51 - Edition 2006(E)).

The Versa Teorema also offers easy-to-use touch-screen control, a helix infeed, a high-rate reject system and additional communications capabilities. A full mesh cover is available for enhanced safety.
Because the new Versa Teorema does not rely on a traditional conveyor-style weigh table, there is a lower "wear vulnerability" at higher production speeds. The end result is a checkweigher with reduced maintenance requirements and improved reliability.
The Versa Teorma's stainless steel design enables it to be used in wet and other harsh environments. It can checkweigh both closed and open cans. This gives processors the option of using the checkweigher further upstream before more expensive ingredients have been added.
