U.S. Gypsum Offers New Family of LEVELROCK Underlayments with Engineered Cement Chemistry and Self-Leveling Properties

The Industrial Products Division of United States Gypsum Company has introduced an innovative new family of poured, self-leveling cement underlayments called LEVELROCK® Brand SLC(TM) Floor Underlayment.

All three of the new products offer the high compressive strengths, performance and versatility found in the existing LEVELROCK gypsum cement underlayment line, but incorporate a unique engineered cement chemistry for users who prefer a cement-based underlayment. The new self-leveling underlayments are applied by USG-authorized applicators, and can be used in a wide range of commercial, institutional and residential flooring applications.

LEVELROCK SLC 200 Floor Underlayment is an economical Portland-based, self-leveling, cementitious underlayment designed for fast application and setting. Ideal for application over concrete, as well as wood substrates with metal lathing, it provides a crack-resistant surface that can handle light construction traffic 24 hours after being poured. The product is mixed with water at the job site to produce a smooth, monolithic surface. Permanent floor coverings can be applied three to seven days after the material is poured, depending on the underlayment's thickness and the drying conditions. The product can be applied from feather edge to 2-inch thicknesses, and offers a compressive strength of 5,500 psi at 28 days.

Self-drying and moisture resistant, LEVELROCK SLC 300 Floor Underlayment will accept floor coverings after 24 hours. This polymer-modified engineered cement is ideal for leveling or topping rough and spalled (but structurally sound) concrete when downtime is critical. The product applies and sets quickly, permitting light traffic within a three-hour period. It can be poured from feather edge to 1 ¼-inch thicknesses, and is designed for commercial, institutional and rehab construction. The underpayment can be covered with carpeting, ceramic surfaces, homogenous PVC and wood underlayment over concrete slabs, and provides a compressive strength of 4,350 psi at 28 days.

LEVELROCK SLC 400 Floor Underlayment is a premium, self-drying cementitious wear surface designed to act as either a final floor surface or high-performance underlayment. The polymer-modified, engineered cement underlayment's fast application and setting times permit the return of light trade traffic within 24 hours. Recommended for high-traffic areas, including manufacturing facilities and warehouses where forklifts are active, the material requires no floor covering or coating. An additional sealer or coating can be applied to achieve optimal performance when the underlayment acts as a wear surface. The underlayment can be applied from feather edge to 5/8-inch thicknesses, providing a moisture-resistant surface. It offers a compressive strength of 4,350 psi at 28 days.
