Cassatt to Deliver 'QuickStart' Services for Automating Management of Data Centers Running VMware, Will Expand Support for VMware Products

Cassatt Extends Solutions to Help Customers Manage Physical and Virtual Machines, Will Support VMware Infrastructure 3

LOS ANGELES, VMWorld Booth #737, Nov. 7 -- Cassatt(TM) Corporation, an emerging leader in software for automating the management of large, diverse data centers, today announced it will deliver a specific virtualization and automation "QuickStart" professional services engagement for customers considering Cassatt and VMware solutions.

In addition, Cassatt will extend support to the latest version of VMware's products, VMware Infrastructure 3, in the next version of Cassatt Collage(TM), a software platform that automates the management of data center resources to improve application service levels. XVM will support VMware Infrastructure 3 in the next release of the product later this calendar year.

The Cassatt Collage Cross-Virtualization Manager (XVM) QuickStart service is a two-week, fixed-price engagement that delivers a best-practice methodology to help customers accelerate the deployment of virtualization projects through a working prototype. Additionally, the Cassatt professional services team will work with customers to create an implementation roadmap for a full-scale automated virtualization control and management deployment effort.

At the conclusion of the Cassatt Collage XVM QuickStart service, organizations will have:

o A demonstration of a working prototype that addresses agreed upon "proof
points," along with design documents and necessary software
o An understanding of the Cassatt Collage platform and the Cassatt Collage
XVM module and recommendations for implementation through a detailed
implementation report
o Estimates, a strategy, and best practices for a full-scale
virtualization control and management infrastructure deployment

In delivering the Cassatt Collage XVM QuickStart service, Cassatt's expert architects and product specialists use field-tested industry best practices and methodologies to dramatically reduce the time, scope, and costs associated with project implementations. The QuickStart service is organized into the following phases:

o Prototype definition
o Requirements analysis and design
o Installation, configuration, and implementation
o Delivery and engagement review

These services engagements will focus on identifying and delivering the technical and business benefits of joint Cassatt and VMware solutions.

Cassatt and VMware

In April, Cassatt joined the VMware Technology Alliance Program. At that time, Cassatt announced that the company would optimize its flagship product Collage with VMware ESX and VMware Server, virtual infrastructure software for partitioning, consolidating, and managing servers in mission-critical environments. In addition, Cassatt and VMware planned to provide cooperative support for joint customers.

"As a member of the VMware Technology Alliance, Cassatt is dedicated to optimizing Cassatt Collage functionality for VMware to meet the needs of our customers," said Gamiel Gran, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances for Cassatt. "And, by offering a QuickStart services program, Cassatt can offer our enterprise buyers a way to evaluate how they can incorporate virtualization into their larger data center management plans along with concrete plans and capabilities for doing so."

Cassatt Collage in VMware Environments

The Cassatt Collage platform software provides "service level automation" -- a way for IT departments to get the most from their virtualization efforts, while maintaining the service level agreements they have made for their applications. In conjunction with VMware virtual infrastructure, the Cassatt software handles load spikes and ensures applications run despite hardware failures, all without human intervention. Cassatt can help IT departments roll out new applications more quickly by making better use of the hardware and software organizations already have.

The Cassatt service level automation solution gives customers the power to automate and manage the operations of both their physical and virtual servers while granting them the flexibility to choose the appropriate virtualization technology for their particular infrastructure. The Cassatt Collage XVM module is built using a vendor-neutral architecture, which will allow customers to host any combination of virtual machines. Earlier in the year, Cassatt announced XVM support for VMware ESX and VMware Server and that it would support XenEnterprise in the next release of the product scheduled for later this year.

Availability

The Cassatt Collage Cross-Virtualization Manager (XVM) with support for VMware Infrastructure 3 will be available with the next release of the XVM product later this calendar year. Cassatt will offer a pilot program for customers interested in early access to XVM support for VMware Infrastructure 3. Cassatt Collage XVM with support for VMware ESX and VMware Server is now generally available. The Cassatt Collage XVM QuickStart offering is currently available.
