Company also announces 100 heart centers worldwide can perform life-saving procedures with TandemHeart System
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 24 - CardiacAssist, Inc. will exhibit the TandemHeart System in booth #1135 at the upcoming Society of Thoracic Surgeons Conference (STS) January 27-29 at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The company also announced that during January, 2008, CardiacAssist will surpass 100 worldwide sites utilizing their TandemHeart System to help support their cardiac patients, bringing the device even closer to elevating the standard of care at many of these institutions for rapid deployment of mechanical circulatory support.

During 2007, the TandemHeart System treated more than 340 patients, a record number, and also surpassed 1100 cases worldwide since inception. In all, 2007 set multiple fiscal records for revenue, profits and cash flow.
Over 25 new centers adopted the TandemHeart System technology during the past year. The new centers that helped push past the 100 mark include:

The TandemHeart System provides circulatory support through a cardiac catheterization procedure in as little as 30 minutes and can provide up to five liters per minute of blood flow. If implanted surgically the TandemHeart System can deliver up to 8 lpm. The TandemHeart System is fully reimbursed by Medicare under existing DRG codes. The device can be placed rapidly in the cath lab or operating room, providing effective, reliable, temporary circulatory support.
