Capacitive Sensors integrate into data acquisition systems.

Press Release Summary:

Using Virtual Instrument Drivers, Elite Series CPL190 and CPL290 sensors and MM190 Meter/Signal Processing Module can connect to LabView(TM) to retrieve measurements and control system functions. Units transmit data sheets and alert DAQ system if measurement is out of range or due for calibration. They include calibrated range indicator bar, selectable dual calibration, zero adjustment disable switch, front panel BNC voltage output, and front panel ground connection.

New Capacitive Sensors Connect to LabView(TM) Instantly, Transmit Data Sheets and Detect System Faults - While Improving Performance

St. Paul, MN USA, November 29, 2006

New Elite Series noncontact, capacitive displacement sensor systems from Lion Precision employ the latest in sensor communication technology to make integration in data acquisition systems easy and robust. The Elite Series features the CPL190 and CPL290 capacitive sensors and the MM190 Meter/Signal Processing Module. Using Virtual Instrument Drivers, Elite Series systems can connect to National Instruments LabView(TM) to retrieve measurements and control system functions. A high-density connector on the rear panel of the system connects directly to National Instruments data acquisition boards. Improved performance and added features also benefit users not employing LabView(TM).

Elite Series provides more than simple measurement information:

TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheets): Communicates calibration information such as calibrated range, last calibration date, calibration due date, driver electronics serial numbers and associated probe serial numbers.

Fault Detection: Alerts the data acquisition system if the measurement is out of range or due for calibration

Elite Series also includes performance enhancements whether or not they are used with LabView(TM):
Analog signals to the data acquisition system are differential for higher signal to noise ratio.
Multiple sensor systems are synchronized to prevent inter-channel interference.
Odd and even numbered channels use inverted excitation signals to null the ground current flow and eliminate noise and offset in differential measurements. Technical details on this technique are available in Lion Precision TechNote LT03-0022 Capacitive Sensors and Ungrounded Targets, available at lionprecision.com; click on Technical Library/TechNotes
Full metal module enclosures minimize RFI.

Elite Series also includes unique, Lion Precision features:
Calibrated range indicator bar
Selectable dual calibration
Zero adjustment disable switch
Front panel BNC voltage output (single-ended)
Front panel ground connection

Typical Specifications:
