Bosch Introduces New Camera Set-Up Software for its MIC Series Cameras
Universal camera set-up software version 3.02 provides easier camera setting up and operation
Bosch Security Systems announces the release of new universal camera set-up software (Cam-set) for use with its MIC Series of high-speed pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. Universal Cam-set version 3.02 is a significant advance on earlier MIC Series camera set-up software, providing users with powerful new functionality to make configuration, especially of large surveillance sites, much easier.
As well as allowing users to connect to MIC Series cameras via an RS485/422 serial link, Cam-set version 3.02 allows multiple MIC Series cameras to be set-up and controlled over an IP network via Bosch video encoders. These encoders are automatically identified by the set-up software and configured for MIC Series communications.
Moreover, the new software allows configuration settings to be simultaneously uploaded to between 1 and 256 MIC Series cameras over the serial link, and a maximum of 4 cameras at a time per video encoder IP address. As previously this could only be done one camera at a time, this is a major improvement allowing for quick and easy system set-up of even very large multi-camera installations.
If camera protocol needs to be changed, this can now be done from the control room over the analog or IP link, eliminating the inconvenience of having to make a direct cable connection to each camera. Configuration features that can be adapted using the Cam-set include presets, tour and pattern configurations, setting of privacy masks and inserting captions into scenes. A special thermal-control tab is also provided in the Graphical User Interface for setting up and controlling MIC Series 412 thermal cameras.
The new Cam-set software also incorporates self-diagnostic and servicing tools including pan-tilt motor testing, camera module testing and communications testing.
Cam-set can also be used as a simple control interface from a laptop or PC. For analog-only installations, a USB-to-RS485 adaptor is available.
The next Cam-set version, due for release in early 2010, will allow connection to multiple IP addresses, dramatically increasing the upper limit for simultaneous camera connections. The new release will also include a cameo window for displaying video screens from selected Bosch IP video devices on the network to enable the MIC Series cameras to be configured and controlled directly, simply by clicking on the cameo scene.
