ATR-Strothmann Camerastick(TM) Eases Vision System Installation and Improves Inspection Quality

Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 15, 2004 - ATR-Strothmann has announced the availability of its new CameraStick(TM) enclosure -- an integral component of ATR-Strothmann's Machine Vision solutions. Featuring a 1 in. universal mounting rod design that works with standard, off-the-shelf components, the CameraStick enables quick and flexible vision system installation.

"The key to this new enclosure is its ability to save set-up time and money," said ATR-Strothmann's Vice President of Sales, Steve Woods. "Imagine that an automotive component gets a design change that requires inspection of an additional hole . . . with a vision system equipped with the CameraStick feature, odds are that any plant will have the standard tooling available needed to add a new camera to the system within about 10 minutes."

Another benefit of the CameraStick is that it includes an infrared filter to safeguard the inspection process against the influence of any ambient light, which is found to be a problem in many vision systems.

Made of an aluminum alloy, the CameraStick enclosure is designed to protect a camera in the harshest of manufacturing environments. In addition, all the wiring feeds to the enclosed camera are routed through the back of the can and internal to the 1-inch mounting rod, thus protecting the cables and providing free movement of the assembly during installation and setup.

It is available in several sizes to accommodate many different camera manufacturers and is offered with any customer-specified tooling.

ATR- Strothmann develops and markets industrial automation, information and vision system solutions as well as manufacturing linear and rotary robotic components and systems used in handling of a variety of materials in multiple process applications.
