Zerbick Software(TM) Plunge Milling Add-In for ESPRIT CAM Now Available
Seamless Add-In for ESPRIT Optimizes Roughing Process
Laurel, MD - The Zerbick Software(TM) Plunge Milling Add-In for the market-leading ESPRIT CAM system is now available. The first plunge milling add-in designed to work with ESPRIT, the Zerbick Software Plunge Milling Add-In provides access to a full set of tools for optimizing the roughing process, enabling users to quickly and safely remove as much material as possible while leaving sufficient stock for finishing operations.
The add-in features a user interface that will be familiar to all ESPRIT users and works seamlessly from within ESPRIT. The Zerbick Software Plunge Milling Add-In includes a complete, built-in help system with helpful tips and hints and step-by-step instructions. A 30-day trial version fully compatible with ESPRIT 2002 is available for immediate download from www.zerbick.com.
Access to Complete Suite of Plunge Roughing Tools
The Zerbick Software Plunge Milling Add-In for ESPRIT allows users to take full advantage of a complete suite of plunge roughing tools. It works with Z-axis milling, a type of plunge milling that allows tools to remove large amounts of stock efficiently by transferring the milling torque axially along the cutting tool into the spindle. This method adds stability when working on deep pockets or with long tools. Stock is removed by plunging a series of holes with overlapping diameters. Vibration and chatter are minimized, allowing relatively high metal removal rates. Many companies find that they can save significant amounts of time by making their roughing processes more efficient.
The Zerbick Software Plunge Milling Add-in enables roughing of 2D pockets with or without islands. The add-in automatically calculates and identifies the location of pilot holes. It allows users to choose any drilling cycle available on their equipment, such as plunging to full depth in one pass, multiple pecks with full retract for chip clearance, various boring cycles, etc. The add-in also allows for parallel rows and zigzag patterns at any angle, as well as concentric-in and concentric-out patterns, each without violating defined boundaries.
Capability to Define and Store Proven Machining Techniques
The Zerbick Software Plunge Milling Add-in opens inside ESPRIT with the Plunge Milling option on the ESPRIT menu. Users can define a multitude of general parameters for the equipment such as drill cycle, peck increments, feed and speed rates, depths and clearances. Users can then provide specifics on the actual roughing strategy, pattern, step parameters, entry mode, machining priorities, etc. Once proven machining techniques are defined, the machining technology can be saved for future use to improve productivity.
About ESPRIT and DP Technology
ESPRIT CAM features advanced support for 2-22 axis turning, 2-5 axis wire-EDM, and 2-5 axis-milling machines. Because it is built upon 100% native Windows®, users can easily extend ESPRIT's capabilities with Visual Basic, creating macros and add-ins with an industry-standard programming language, instead of relying on a proprietary language.
The ESPRIT Developer Network, located at dptechnology.com/espritaddinstore/edn.htm, provides support for third-party software developers and end-users to build and sell software solutions, macros and add-ins to the ESPRIT community. Add-ins that are approved by DP as Commercial Solutions receive the company's endorsement, along with the opportunity for a DP-sponsored news release, a classified advertisement in ESPRIT de Corps (the ESPRIT user magazine), trade show exposure and other promotional advantages.
