Easy Programming with Intuitive Interface
August 2004, SOUTHFIELD, Michigan - With its standardized Microsoft Windows® style interface, EdgeCAM frees the user from learning about and maintaining different systems, maximizing efficiency in producing CNC code.
The user-friendly "XP style" interface introduced in EdgeCAM 9 can be customized to make EdgeCAM more intuitive using simple drag-and-drop techniques. Re-designed and fully customizable icons and toolbars put frequently used functions at the user's fingertips. "Our aim is for EdgeCAM 9 to have the best user interface of any CAM system," says Dave Plater, Development Director at Pathtrace.
The EdgeCAM window displaying the list of machining instructions has been enhanced for easier navigation and editing. New options include the ability to group instructions by tool, index or synchronization point for easier management. Instructions can be highlighted and renamed, and a search facility allows the user to search long and complex lists using standard Microsoft Find functions, allowing fast and simple re-ordering and rationalization of machining instructions.
Using powerful yet easy-to-use customization tools, the EdgeCAM user interface can be tailored to individual requirements, resulting in faster programming time. Fly-outs, auto hide functions and detachable windows maximize the available screen space.
New operations with unique dialogs incorporating images and videos provide novice and educational users with a simple and quick introduction to EdgeCAM and significantly increase usability.
