Fluke Introduces Enhanced MET/CAL® V7.1 Software

Latest release features expanded configuration for measurement uncertainty, guardbanding support and improved user interface

EVERETT, WA - Fluke Corporation, the world's leading supplier of calibration software, has introduced MET/CAL (r) Plus V7.1 software suite, an enhancement of its market-leading calibration management program with new features designed to efficiently handle expanding workloads.

"Calibration labs are facing tremendous challenges including an increasing complex volume of work, fewer technicians, a growing list of quality standards they must adhere to and the constant pressure to reduce costs," said Robert McKelvy, Fluke Precision Measurement product marketing manager. "The new capabilities we've added to MET/CAL Plus V7.1 accommodate these realities with a streamlined user interface that makes automating calibration and tracking assets fast and accurate."

Enhanced measurement uncertainty capability
The program's new guardbanding support allows metrologists to tailor algorithms to automatically tighten the pass limits associated with a unit under test's calibration specifications. This feature is particularly useful in identifying units that are out of tolerance, but are still close to specification due to low test accuracy ratios.

Other measurement improvements include:
o Procedure language enhancements including more programming constructs which improve decision making.
o New Function Select codes to control more instrument standards, including the new Fluke 8508A Reference Multimeter.
o Enhanced RF calibration capabilities with expanded reference drivers and support for new instruments.
o Greater control over measurement uncertainty calculations to enhance conformance to local customs and standards.

Improved ease of use
MET/CAL Plus V7.1 features many new enhancements that make it easier, and faster to use. They include:
o Color coding of procedure statements for quick reading.
o Customization of screen layouts for individual users so they can tailor the software to their work style.
o Formatted dates and numeric displays configured in the operating system.
o Separate search, browse, and data entry screens.
o Tabbed inventory, calibration, and maintenance screens.
o More powerful searching capabilities
