CAD/CAM Software has direct dimension-driven edit features.

Press Release Summary:

KeyCreator(TM) v6.5 offers direct dimension-driven edit functionality that supports ordinate, coordinate, and chamfer dimensions, as well as hole feature labels such as counterbored holes. Discover Assembly function provides automated exporting and referencing of duplicate solids found in single file, eliminating redundant solids by adding link to external file containing body. Three dimension export translation capabilities now support Adobe 3D PDF/U3D and optionally CATIA V5.

Kubotek Releases KeyCreator V6.5 for Mechanical Design

June 6, 2007 - Marlborough, MA - Kubotek USA, makers of geometry-based design and engineering software, today announced KeyCreator(TM) 6.5, a new version of its widely used mechanical design and manufacturing CAD/CAM software. KeyCreator 6.5 uses Kubotek's Face Logic technology to further expand the software's leading capabilities in direct editing of history-free 3D models. Additional significant productivity enhancements targeted to vehicle and equipment design and mold design are also included as well as additional file export formats.

"This 6.5 release significantly expands the breakthrough Direct Dimension-driven Edit capabilities debuted in our 6.3 release in January. The response we've gotten to the Direct Dimension-driven Edit capabilities has been very encouraging. There is a growing understanding this is an entirely new and intuitive way to look at solid model editing", stated John Wright McCullough, Kubotek USA Product Manager. The Direct Dimension-driven Edit functionality in version 6.5 now supports Ordinate, Coordinate, and Chamfer dimensions, as well as Hole feature labels such as counterbored holes.

Another new capability based on Kubotek's unique Face Logic technology provides automated exporting and referencing of duplicate solids found in a single file. The new Discover Assembly function added in 6.5 walks through the solids in a design looking for identical bodies. The function automatically optimizes the design file by replacing identical bodies with links to a new external file containing the body. Using this tool on large machine designs contained in a single file and managed using layers dramatically reduces the size of the file by eliminating redundant solids.

For vehicle and equipment design version 6.5 introduces a flexible new method of assigning either material density to precise solids or alternatively pre-calculated mass and center of gravity location. This capability supports automated calculation of mass and center of gravity of the overall assembly even if many components are low-quality imported models, or have been intentionally reduced to imprecise lightweight entities to reduce memory usage or protect intellectual property.

A new tool in 6.5 specifically for the design of injection molds saves hours by dramatically automating the modeling of parting surfaces. Also expanded in this version are 3D export translation capabilities which now support Adobe 3D PDF/U3D and optionally CATIA V5.
