Cactus Commerce Signs a Global Agreement with Microsoft Corp. for Electronic Commerce

Cactus Elected the Preferred Joint Development and Go-to Market Partner for Microsoft's Commerce Server

OTTAWA, ON, CANADA - August 8, 2007 - Cactus Commerce, a software and services company, today announced it has signed an agreement with Microsoft Corporation to drive product development, partner ecosystem development, marketing, services and support of the Commerce Server platform. The long-term strategic alliance reinforces both companies' continued focus, investment and commitment to lead innovation for the e-commerce marketplace on a global scale.

Together, as part of a long-term technology roadmap, the companies will jointly deliver platform enhancements and complementary solution accelerators focused on technology and industry deployment scenarios. Beginning in the second half 2008 and continuing through to 2010, these accelerators will provide new capabilities and value over and above Commerce Server 2007 to enhance both new and existing customer deployments.

"Customers can expect to benefit from the combined value of Microsoft's expertise in building leading enterprise platform and Cactus' industry specific solutions and deep knowledge of customer needs, product customizations, and service integration," said Jean-Yves Martineau, Founder and CTO at Cactus Commerce. "This tightly closed loop between development and implementation will also enable Cactus to leverage the successes we've achieved with our enterprise customers to influence and drive the Commerce Server product roadmap going forward."

"Microsoft is increasing investments in Commerce Server as a strategic technology platform for our customers and partner ecosystem." said Ryan Donovan, Product Unit Manager for Commerce Server at Microsoft Corp. "Our joint partnership with Cactus Commerce improves and extends the development of the Commerce Server platform with a predictable long term technology roadmap, while providing the specialized industry and technical expertise needed to empower our partners and customers worldwide for success with Commerce solutions."

Cactus' expertise and industry focused e-commerce solutions will be made available through the Commerce Server Information Desk program (csid@microsoft.com) to all Microsoft industry partners, customers, and the Microsoft sales organization to help satisfy the complex needs of e-commerce deployments.

"The agreement with Microsoft accelerates access to Cactus' expertise and their unique software assets for commerce," said Joe VanWinkle, Vice President of Global Market Development at Avanade. "Working together with Cactus, we anticipate developing solutions for our global portfolio of customers. These customers will benefit from Cactus' intellectual property and experience as well as Avanade's scale with more 7,000 people in 22 countries."

To support this incredible opportunity, Cactus plans to hire more than 125 people in the next 12 to 18 months, the majority of which will work from a new 15,000 square foot R&D office slated to open in Ottawa by fall of 2007. (CactusCommerce.com/careers).

"This type of joint-development and go-to-market relationship with Cactus Commerce is an exciting new way of delivering value to Microsoft customers, and building business for both Microsoft and its technology partners. Cactus Commerce has worked with Microsoft-based solutions for over a decade and has built up an expertise that makes it a great fit for this long-term strategic relationship."
