ACSR cable, ¾ in. bolts, and ground rods. Open-frame tools are powered by pyrotechnic cartridges which, upon trigger release, drive aerospace grade tool steel blades at high velocity through cable, guillotine-style. Bright red safety shield must be rotated before operating cutter.

Cable Cutters Cartridge-Actuated For Fast, Clean Cuts

(Burlington, NJ) --- Line of cartridge-actuated cable cutters make fast, clean cuts through a wide range of underground and overhead electrical or structural cables, from ½-in. guy wires up to 2-in. 1000 KCMIL AL cable. They may also be used on 5/8-in. ACSR (aluminum stranded conductors steel reinforced) cable and ¾-in. bolts and ground rods. The lightweight, open-frame tools are powered by special pyrotechnic cartridges which, upon trigger release, drive aerospace grade tool steel blades at high velocity through the cable, guillotine-style. This results in a very clean cut surface ready for splicing or slip-on connectors. Operation is simple: twist and pull back on the handle to open the breech where the color-coded cartridge is inserted; place the cable in the opening between the blades; remove the safety and squeeze the trigger. The portable design allows for safe cutting even in confined or restricted areas. Four different models meet the requirements of any user. Quality materials allow for hundreds of cuts through tough surfaces with no blade damage. Patented design incorporates several key safety features: cartridge cannot be fired unless properly loaded; firing requires a large amount of force (50 times that required in pulling the trigger of a gun); and, bright red safety shield must be rotated before operating the cutter. Besides power companies, the cable cutters are used by general industry, municipal services (police, fire, emergency), railroad operations, and others. The line is sold exclusively in the United States by BURLINGTON SAFETY LABORATORY, INC.
