B+K Precision®'s Remote Network Cable Analyzer Traces Installed Cables and Locates Discontinuities in Seconds

YORBA LINDA, Calif., January 15, 2003-B&K Precision Corporation, one of the industry s leading suppliers of test and measurement products, today announced the addition of the Model 240A Remote Network Cable Analyzer and Model 261 Cable Tracing Probe to its expanding line of cable testers. The Model 240A is a small hand-held tester which enables the user to quickly read the status of Ethernet twisted pair cables. When using the Model 240A's tone
generator function, the Model 261 Probe can trace cables and locate faults, even when cables are in a bundle or hidden in a mess of punch down blocks or wall plates.

The standard 9V battery powered Model 240A tester can be used to test for faults such as open circuits, shorts, crossed pairs, reversed pairs and split pairs, and will identify a fault in a matter of seconds. And, the unit's optional remote probe can be used to trace installed cables and locate areas of discontinuity. At a suggested retail price of $125 for the Model 240A and $29 for the 261, they are the most aggressively priced network cable testers on the market today.

The Model 240A Remote Network Cable Analyzer includes one master
unit and one remote and can easily be operated by one person testing patch cords or installed cables. The compact design is very user-friendly and the built-in belt clip permits the unit to be conveniently carried to any job site.

Model 240A Features:
- Testing of twisted pair cables for open circuits, shorts, crossed pairs, reversed pairs and split pairs
- Minimum length for split pair detection is 1.97ft (0.6m)
- Testing of twisted pair cables over 450ft (135m) in length
- Tone generator for tracing installed cables and locating faults
- Shield integrity testing
- Debug mode for quick fault identification
- Special designed remote unit that enables one-person testing of installed cables
- Small remote unit that slides into master unit for convenient and safe storage
- Automatic sleep mode and power switch to decrease power consumption
