C-COR Advances on Demand Delivery Efficiencies with Unified Platform

Platform Unites Expertise in Advertising, On Demand and Switched Digital for Quick Deployment and Management of Revenue Generating Services

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--C-COR Incorporated (NASDAQ:CCBL) is integrating the broadband market's most scalable On Demand video and ad insertion servers into a common, open and interoperable hardware and software platform. The new Unified Platform eliminates the need for currently required multiple hardware and management systems to deliver and manage Video On Demand, linear and On Demand Advertising (AdVOD), network PVR (nPVR) and Switched Digital Video (SDV) services. In addition, by eliminating the platform silos between advertising and On Demand content, network service providers will be able to stream content and advertising to any device - mobile, IPTV, PC or television - from a single server. The platform will start shipping in 2007.

A single open management software system combines On Demand video and advertising platforms with session and resource management. This greatly simplifies the training tools for system personnel by using one single interface for the management of all advanced services. Reducing the required amount of hardware, software and training will dramatically decrease the capital and operational expenditures associated with implementing an On Demand offering. Reducing the complexity in the headend should also increase the speed with which providers can bring new services to market. The platform's open architecture enables it to be deployed on a modular basis in virtually any architecture or configuration.

"As a leading supplier of both On Demand and advertising solutions, we have seen the challenges service providers have at the system level under the current roadmaps: duplicative hardware and siloed management tools," said Basil Badawiyeh, Vice President, On Demand Strategy, C-COR. "This redundancy and complexity would eventually stunt the growth of On Demand services. We are in a unique position to eliminate this barrier by engineering a highly efficient and, most importantly, a scalable advertising and On Demand platform that has the management tools necessary to quickly respond to market shifts."

C-COR is committed to bringing to market unified, open and interoperable solutions from its access, network and applications management, and On Demand modular product suites that solve its customers' need for bandwidth expansion and utilization. C-COR's On Demand product line is deployed in more than 200 markets around the world. The company's nABLE(TM) back office management tool was the industry's first open and interoperable back office software. Its SkyVision digital advertising management platform is the recognized leader in delivering digital and analog advertising to over 100 markets throughout the United States.
