IBM iSeries(TM) model 520 has a new 2,400/60 CPW performance point for the Express and Value Editions for:
New on demand applications
5250 OLTP capability to run traditional applications
A new 9406 model 520 Solution Edition offers an attractively priced total business solution using popular ISV solution software.
Larger model 570s can be configured with fewer i5/OS licenses, making them more cost effective for consolidating primarily non-i5/OS operating environments. The 5/8-way, 9/12-way, and 13/16-way offerings now include one i5/OS license instead of the previous four licenses.
Responding to very large iSeries customers, the maximum number of I/O towers and drawers you can attach to the model 570 and 595 is increased by up to 60% and 20%, respectively. Maximum supported disk capacity on all i5 models is doubled with the use of the 141GB disk drive.
The Enterprise Edition is refreshed by replacing IBM Portal Express Plus with the newer IBM Workplace Services Express.
An additional mirroring package uses the recently announced 141GB disk drive and the high performance disk controller (#2780).
