At NAB 2012, DVS Will Present its Broadcast Server VENICE with Numerous Highlights
Now available in a 2U chassis, VENICE comes with many enhancements such as support of various new file formats and codecs allowing unprecedented flexibility and performance.
Hanover/Las Vegas. From April 16-19, DVS will be launching its multi-channel broadcast server VENICE in a new form-factor at booth SL6815. In its 2U chassis, VENICE offers an extended feature set while having reduced its size by 50%. The DVS broadcast server also introduces striking new functions to enhance file-based broadcasting workflows: with support for various file formats such as GXF and codecs such as H.264 AVC, VENICE easily integrates content, e.g. archive material, into existing workflows and plays it out. The new transwrapping engine as well as metadata editing for file or signal ingests further expand the broadcast server's possibilities. VENICE now also features extended "read while write" capabilities when interplaying with Avid® editing systems.

The new VENICE is easy to maintain and specially designed for mobile use.
VENICE's broadcasting flexibility is shown in various tasks like ingest, transcoding or play-out, since they can be freely structured and processed automatically. In combination with DVS's integrated data management software Spycer®, VENICE enables users to optimize and accelerate their workflows with metadata edit functions. TV broadcasters in particular will benefit from facilitated operations in their workflows thanks to new features for file and signal ingest - and operators can easily customize the metadata attributes of their ingested P2 and XDCAM® material to suit their workflows needs.
The intelligent combination of the DVS broadcast server with the Spycer® data management software proves to be highly effective in fast media turnaround scenarios. The upgraded Spycer® software enables easy access to both Avid ISIS® storage and Interplay® production asset management (PAM) systems. This allows users to perform live video ingest via HD-SDI and file ingest from Professional DiscsTM and P2 media on ISIS®/Interplay® production systems using VENICE. By integrating the Avid® systems into the Spycer® network, the required material is available on all workstations immediately.
Thanks to the "frame chase editing" function in VENICE, video material can be viewed and edited even while it is being recorded.
VENICE also features a new transwrapping engine which is responsible for providing and processing digital content. By eliminating decoding and encoding processes, VENICE maintains the high quality of the source material und saves valuable time especially in fast media turnaround scenarios.
