Carlisle Now Manufactures New Heavy Duty Brake Shoes

Charlottesville, VA - August 8, 2006 - Carlisle Motion Control Industries, Inc. is launching a new line of OE quality brake shoes featuring induction hardened cam and anchor ends to prevent mushrooming and improve long-term durability. All Carlisle new shoes will receive an E-coating where paint is more uniformly and completely bonded to the steel for better resistance to environmental conditions. As an additional quality step, these shoes are coined after welding to correct shoe distortion and deformation that can occur during welding process.

Carlisle's new brake shoes will be available through the company's Altec Brake Systems division and are an excellent way for Altec customers to replenish shoe core banks, as well as assure a quality foundation for their fleet's brake systems. These new Carlisle manufactured shoes guarantee consistent ISO9000 quality and come in a wide range of FMSI numbers.

Carlisle Motion Control Industries has been a QS 9000/ISO 9001 certified company since 1997; manufacturing and marketing heavy duty asbestos-free brake linings and Altec(TM) remanufactured brake shoes for vehicles in class sizes six through eight. In 2003, Altec introduced RustGard(TM), a UV brake shoe coating that solves the problem of Rust-jacking and premature brake lining failure due to rusting brake shoes.

Altec Brake Systems, a division of Carlisle Motion Control Industries, has remanufactured more than 50 million shoes since its inception in 1988. Including the industry's first brake shoe coining press, the company has continued to develop and patent both processes and equipment so that all remanufactured brake shoes return to OE tolerances. Altec provides its customers with an OE-quality solution that significantly reduces maintenance costs.
