EAO's New Braille Helps Visually Impaired

A bright future for EAO's new door-opener with Braille markings as public facilities becomes more sensitive to the needs of the disabled.

EAO has developed a new Braille option for its popular Series 56 door-opener pushbutton to help the blind or visually impaired access public facilities.

Words such as 'Open' or 'Close' can be embossed in Braille on the raised bezel on either side of the pushbutton. This is particularly useful for accessing the sliding-door toilet units fitted in trains and coaches, as well as access to public kiosks in libraries, shops, stations, etc.

To help the visually impaired locate the function button, the raised bezel is available as standard in two bright colors, yellow or orange, as well as red, blue, green, black, light and dark gray at the customer's request. These bezels are ideal to focus attention on a specific pushbutton control, particularly if the users are partially sighted.

EAO, who prides itself on being at the edge of pushbutton development, has created the Braille option to meet the changing needs of public access as it adapts to new technology, design, customer expectation and, in particular, regulation.
