BradCommunications(TM) Diagnostic Solutions Now Available for Industrial Ethernet Applications

April 16, 2007, Hannover, Germany and Lisle, IL USA. - Woodhead Industries, a division of Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX AND MOLXA), announces two new diagnostic tools available for Industrial Ethernet applications.

Woodhead Industries has been always been on the forefront when introducing simulation and diagnostic solutions. Starting with the launch of the PICS Simulation® software in 1987 and continuing with software tools for diagnosing and monitoring many industrial networks over the last 20 years. In the recent years, BradCommunications(TM) diagnostic tools for DeviceNet have been launched, including the NetMeter®, Power Monitor tee and software tools for SST(TM) DeviceNet interface cards.

With this rich history in diagnostic offerings, Woodhead Industries proudly announces two new solutions - BradCommunications SNMP Management Suite (MS) and BradCommunications DeviceNet Doctor.

BradCommunications SNMP MS is a comprehensive suite of tools used to display and analyze SNMP diagnostic data from Ethernet networks. SNMP devices generate data in the form of tags. These tags can be transmitted by means of a switch such as a BradCommunications Direct-Link Industrial Ethernet managed switch, (winner of the 2006 Control Engineers' Choice Award) to an HMI display where they can be easily displayed through the use of the BradCommunications SNMP MS. Non-Ethernet experts can then quickly and easily view any problems that may be occurring specific to the device including status of individual ports, bandwidth utilization and network error rates. This information decreases downtime by allowing the user to quickly pinpoint the cause and location of the error. Traffic utilization can also be analyzed, allowing the user to pinpoint bottlenecks and take corrective actions including the redistribution of devices on the Ethernet network. BradCommunications SNMP MS comes in Basic, Expert and Enterprise editions.

With Ethernet now having the ability to reach out over longer distances and greater bandwidth to gather diagnostics data, it has opened new doors for users to obtain information on a specific industrial network and then view it from a PC residing on Ethernet. This resulted in the development of the BradCommunications(TM) DeviceNet Doctor

BradCommunications DeviceNet Doctor is a passive device that continuously monitors a DeviceNet network and stores the information as OPC status tags on an HMI display residing on Ethernet. The DeviceNet Doctor provides extremely accurate measurements of the network parameters using high-speed sampling. By storing a baseline measurement of a "good" network, it can predict imminent failures on individual devices. Device measurements can then be set in such a way, that when an OPC status tag is analyzed and is found to be outside the acceptable limits, steps can be taken to replace the device prior to its causing any downtime. Data can also be stored to historian software for future analysis. This is useful for companies such as those in the pharmaceuticals industry. When a problem occurs with a specific batch, the historical data can be viewed to see if any network problems occurred during the same time frame.
