Thomas & Betts' Steel City® 'MS' Series Bracket Boxes Reduce Installation Time
Patented Bracket Design Eliminates the Need for Fasteners and Tools in Installation
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - August 15, 2006 - Thomas & Betts added another product designed to reduce contractors' installation time with the introduction of Steel City® "MS" series Bracket Boxes, which install on metal studs 67 percent more quickly than other methods. The "MS" (metal stud) Series Bracket Boxes feature patented gripping teeth that eliminate the need to use fasteners and tools to install the outlet box onto a metal stud, reducing the time needed for what is typically the most labor-intensive and time-consuming step.
"It takes only four seconds to install the 'MS' Series Bracket Box onto a metal stud," said Joe Pede, product manager for Thomas & Betts' Construction Products Group. "This is one-third the time it takes to install a box with other mounting brackets, making it the quickest installation time in the industry. The contractor simply aligns the bracket box to the stud and applies force until the box pops into place. The gripping teeth secure the box without the need to use fasteners and tools."
The "MS" Series Bracket Boxes are available in four- and 4 11/16-inch square sizes, in one-inch and 2 1/8-inch depths, and include eccentric knockouts and armored cable clamps. Four-inch boxes also include nonmetallic cable clamps.
Other features that "MS" Series Bracket Boxes offer are a center mark locator window, which facilitates the proper alignment of the box onto the metal stud, and a side support for stud cavity depths up to four inches, which supports the side of the box opposite the bracket. Side supports for stud cavities of four to six inches in depth are available separately. "MS" Series Bracket Boxes are compatible with all standard device covers and tile rings, and are available preassembled. Preset brackets ensure that the cover mounts are flush.
Screw holes are included for compliance with local codes that require fasteners. "MS" Series Bracket Boxes are UL514A listed.
