Global BPM Leader Releases Version 7 of Metastorm BPM(TM) Software

BALTIMORE, July 11 -- Metastorm, a leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM) software for modeling, automating, integrating, and improving both human and system-based processes, today announced the worldwide commercial release of Metastorm BPM Version 7. The Metastorm BPM suite has helped over 1200 organizations in 41 countries gain visibility and control over enterprise processes for greater efficiency, compliance, and agility. Results show the software delivers a fast return on investment and substantial financial and business value over time.

With Version 7, Metastorm has expanded its BPM suite to include:

o Stronger integration capabilities for managing and improving system-based processes and leveraging legacy systems through the Metastorm Integration Manager;

o Enhanced visibility and process collaboration through Microsoft SharePoint Portal;

o Extended event management and business activity monitoring (BAM) capabilities;

o Improved usability and visibility through the extension of a common user interface across all components of the Metastorm BPM suite.

Further detail on each of the key additions to the suite is outlined below:

o Metastorm Integration Manager enables robust integration capabilities for deploying, managing and improving system-based processes and leveraging legacy systems, including enabling older legacy and mainframe-based capabilities to interoperate in new service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments. Metastorm Integration Manager, added to the Metastorm suite with the acquisition of CommerceQuest, is now fully integrated with the rest of the Metastorm BPM suite, accessible through the same user interface, and completely interoperable with Metastorm's reporting, analysis, and simulation capabilities. This gives users visibility across an entire process -- including both human-centric and system-based activities -- and allows them to analyze and improve all aspects of a process.

o The Metastorm BPM Process Client for SharePoint provides a packaged set of web parts that allow users to monitor, participate in, and collaborate on processes deployed on the Metastorm BPM platform through a Microsoft SharePoint Portal. Using this feature, each user can configure their own unique viewpoint into Metastorm BPM to meet their individual needs -- giving them a dashboard into key analytics and process activities and allowing them to take action on process items as needed. The SharePoint Process Client adds to Metastorm's existing portfolio of user interface options that includes a zero-download web-based dashboard, a Microsoft Outlook Process Client for both connected and offline access, and a Blackberry Process Client for mobile access.

o Extended event management and business activity monitoring (BAM) capabilities inherent in Metastorm BPM Version 7 give organizations the ability to easily push events and alerts out to other systems as well as receive events from other applications and trigger appropriate action. In addition, Metastorm has enabled process data to be published and accessed via RSS lists, thus enabling users to get notified of process events and access their Metastorm BPM action items using their preferred RSS aggregator. These enhanced BAM capabilities also provide the foundation for future enhancements, including the release of a graphical event manager later this year.

o Improved usability and visibility through the extension of a common user interface across all components of the BPM suite. This allows users to manage and control the entire roundtrip process lifecycle through a single product set and a single interface with a common look and feel across key functions -- including process design, execution, monitoring, analysis, and simulation.
