Bosch Jigsaw Blades Celebrate 60th Anniversary

World's Leading Blade Manufacturer - 10 Times Over

Mount Prospect, Ill., November 27, 2007 - In celebration of its 60th Anniversary of producing jigsaw blades, Bosch Power Tools and Accessories has introduced a limited edition twelve-piece woodworkers jigsaw blade set containing Bosch's most popular blades for the cleanest cuts, fastest speed and highest level of precision. The set comes in a one-of-a-kind aluminum case with magnetic blade storage.

In 1947, Bosch invented the world's first electric hand-held jigsaw and jigsaw blades. Since then, Bosch has been the market-leader introducing innovative solutions to meet a variety of user applications.

As testament to their success, Bosch will manufacture their 4 billionth blade this year at their state-of-the-art facility located in Switzerland. To put that in perspective, laid end-to-end, four billion blades would circle the Earth TEN times.

Industry Leadership

The original blade design was created by Bosch and is commonly called a Bosch Shank or a T-Shank blade because of the distinctive shape of the base of the shank where the blade is held by the tool.

Bosch introduced the Progressor® blade featuring a patented, progressive tooth design that increases the number of teeth per inch (TPI) as the blade nears the saw. The large teeth at the end are designed for thicker materials, in the center the blade has ground teeth for speed and clean cuts and closest to the base, the teeth are finer for thin materials. One blade for multiple materials increases performance while reducing costs.

Looking to increase the utility of the jigsaw, Bosch introduced the industry's first 7-inch jigsaw blades for cutting sandwich material and thick wood stock. The T718BF is a bi-metal blade ideal for cutting sandwich materials and structural insulated panels up to 4-¾" thick. The T744D is ideal for fast cuts in 4x4 and 4x6 lumber, engineered wood beams, and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) up to a 5-5/16" thick. This gives professionals 75% more cutting capability over standard blades with only a 3-inch cut depth.

Bosch was also the first to introduce "Special for Laminate" jigsaw blades specifically designed for clean cuts in laminate flooring materials. The T101AOF & BIF feature a unique pointed tooth design that provide precise, clean cuts on both sides of the workpiece. Laser-welded bi-metal construction prolongs blade life for cutting in abrasive laminate flooring materials, including those backed with standard and rubber-based sound insulation. Bosch's "Special for Laminate" blades provide cleaner cuts, are two times faster, and last up to ten times longer than standard carbon blades.

To make blade selection easier for users, Bosch has developed a color code system which is becoming a standard in the industry. All blades and packaging are coded by application. Gray for Wood, Blue for Metal, White for All Purpose, and Black for Specialty applications.
