Phoenix, AZ - February 12, 2007 - BOSaNOVA, Inc., the market leader in development of Thin Clients and Network Appliances announced today the integration of the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) for enhanced printing capabilities on BOSaNOVA Linux thin clients.
CUPS provides a standard, integrated, printing solution for the Linux environment. Without CUPS there is no standard interface or system in place for supporting printers under Linux.
CUPS is based upon an Internet standard called the Internet Printing Protocol. IPP has been embraced by dozens of printer and printer server manufacturers and is supported by Microsoft Windows 2000. IPP replaces proprietary printing services with a single method for sending print jobs from a computer to any authorized printer connected to an IP network. IPP, and hence CUPS, supports access control, authentication, and encryption.
"CUPS has revolutionized printing on Linux," says Martin Pladgeman, President of BOSaNOVA, Inc. "With BOSaNOVA Linux Thin Clients users can now print from a browser the same as Windows."
BOSaNOVA Linux Thin Clients are available for purchase through BOSaNOVA's resellers. For sales information contact BOSaNOVA, Inc.
