Borland and DMR Form Strategic Alliance, Standardize the Use of Borland's Open Application Lifecycle Management Solutions at DMR's Remote Development Center

Partnership maximizes the integration of Borland's Open ALM solutions with the Macroscope methodology to improve the productivity of DMR's internal development teams

Quebec City, Canada - Nov 12, 2007 : Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ: BORL, www.borland.com), the global leader in Open Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and DMR Consulting, a division of Fujitsu Consulting (Canada) Inc., today announced a strategic alliance that will standardize the use of Borland's Open ALM solutions at DMR's Quebec Delivery Center (QDC). The alliance is intended to improve the productivity of the QDC's internal software development teams serving the needs of customers across various industries worldwide.

"Our partnership with Borland has proven to be very creative and is enabling DMR to experiment with various paths leading to quality and productivity improvements," Jean-Frannois Boulianne, Associate Director, Operations Manager - Quebec Solution Engineering Center at DMR Consulting. "Productivity tools are one way of meeting the expectations raised by the challenges of globalization and industrialization in an ever-changing IT industry."

The QDC, which has facilities in Quebec City and Montreal, is a remote software development center built on the principles of CMMI Level 3 certification, software development productivity tools and the Macroscope® methodology, an integrated suite of business and IT methods. The integration with Borland's Open ALM solutions will help to automate the Macroscope process, strengthening the ability of the QDC's development teams to consistently deliver high-quality software, on time and within budget. By maximizing the use of automation, the QDC expects to achieve productivity gains of 20-40 percent per IT project.

DMR chose to standardize on Borland after a formal evaluation of several leading ALM product suites. Key to the selection of Borland was the company's need for a technology partner that could support application deployment to multiple platforms, such as Java(TM), .NET, Oracle and SAP. The platform-agnostic Borland® Open ALM solutions provide the openness and flexibility that DMR required to support its existing investments in platforms and IDE tools, while also offering superior quality over all other product suites included in its evaluation.

Another key to the selection process was Borland's ability to provide a holistic ALM solution. DMR was seeking a single vendor solution in order to get the benefits of traceability across the lifecycle: from requirements to design to code to test.

To achieve this goal, DMR will implement a seven product bundle of Borland ALM products for complete coverage of the critical processes involved in successful software delivery: visual design and modeling, requirements definition and management, lifecycle quality management and change management. The product bundle expands DMR's current integration of Borland Together® into Macroscope with the additions of Borland Caliber® DefineIT and CaliberRM(TM), Borland SilkTest® and SilkCentral® Test Manager(TM), Borland Gauntlet® and Borland StarTeam®.

The comprehensive Borland Open ALM solution will help the QDC's development teams to increase collaboration and knowledge sharing across functional roles, better integrate tools and processes, automate traceability and reporting, improve impact analysis and software quality, and help reduce overall development times and costs.
