Boeing Orders ASTi Systems for Four New Longbow Trainers

The Boeing Company has selected Advanced Simulation Technology inc.
(ASTi - Herndon, VA) to supply networked communication and environmental
audio simulation for a batch of new AH-64D Apache Longbow trainers to be
fielded at various locations around the world. The first systems will be
delivered in support of the Japan Defense Agency's Ground Self Defense
Force Longbow training program. Subsequent systems will be deployed as
constituents of the U.S. Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) #24, Kuwait LCT, and
Kuwait Multi-Purpose Display Trainer (MPDT).

These new Apache Longbow trainers will receive Telestra Model Builder
Visual systems providing aural cueing and simulated communications for
the complete spectrum of training and maintenance activities. Audio
simulation capabilities include: rotors, engines, auxiliary power units,
weather effects, crash sounds, external weapons, and malfunction sounds.
Radios such as the ARC-201 and ARC-210 will be modeled in multiple
trainers, and the Japanese JARC-F210 and unique Japanese secure voice
system requirements will be integrated into the trainer destined for
that country.

ASTi has been delivering Apache Longbow systems to Boeing since 1999.
