SALT LAKE CITY -- Boart Longyear(TM) (www.boartlongyear.com, ASX:BLY), the world's leading integrated drilling products and services provider, has developed two new products to combat hand injuries on the job: the Rod Lifter and the Split Tube Loader.
"Safety is our number one concern at Boart Longyear, and the development of our new Rod Lifter and Split Tube Loader is evidence of that," said Kent Adamson, Global Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for Boart Longyear. "Not only do these products make the work less strenuous, but they also dramatically reduce the risk of hand injury. Our customers trust us, and our safety-oriented equipment ensures that everyone returns home safely to their families, everyday, everywhere and on every job."
The Boart Longyear Rod Lifter is a handheld and lightweight solution that is ergonomically designed to allow proper lifting techniques, keep the wrist and hand in a neutral position to eliminate strain and protect fingers from pinch points and sharp surfaces. The Rod Lifter also prevents thread damage and eliminates pipe slippage through the use of specially designed carbide rod grip.
Split tubes and outer casing can become very sharp and often contain metal burrs, and drillers can often suffer from hand lacerations and other injuries due to these conditions, even when wearing the proper protective gloves. The Boart Longyear Split Tube Loader is designed to eliminate hand contact with these sharp, jagged edges. Designed to fit multiple split tube diameters, the Split Tube Loader fits comfortably in the hand and keeps fingers away from dangerous contact points.
For over 120 years, Boart Longyear has been dedicated to the safety needs of the drilling, and remains at the forefront of safety technology. As a global leader, they have continually introduced innovative new products to meet the requirements of the industry, and will continue to pave the way for further progress.
