Elgin, IL-- Newhaven Display International, Inc. announces six new 2x16 Modular OLED displays.
Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays are an easy fit for any application with Newhaven Display’s new 2x16 Modular OLED product line. Choose between three electrical interfaces and five connector options for these character OLED displays. The modulated characteristics were designed with all kinds of engineers’ project requirements in mind. With these new adaptable, small-scale modules it’s easy to incorporate all the benefits of OLED technology and more into your existing or upcoming projects.
The 2x16 Modular OLED product line was designed and engineered in Elgin, IL U.S.A. These new modules are two-row by sixteen-character OLED displays. These displays output blue colored characters at a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, using three built-in font tables, and their biggest advantage is the components and infrastructure that make up the different modules.
Each of the six new Modular OLED displays come with a unique combination of electrical interface and connection options. The available interfaces to choose from are Parallel, SPI, and I2C. Five distinct connection options are available: two dual row pin headers in 2x18 (for Parallel interface only) or 2x8 sizes, two single row through-hole pin outs (in either 1x7 or 1x8 sizes), and an RJ45 port.
The range of interface and connection options within this new product line supports many different end-product designs, but the RJ45 connection port stands out from the rest. This port allows for connection via much longer cables than standard ribbon cables typically connected to a display. You can connect the RJ45 display with Ethernet CAT cables, phone cables, or any other RJ45 compatible cable. This flexibility is great for developmental stages and unique application designs alike.
The two modules with single row through-hole connections are what we call the “Arduino-ready” modules of these Modular OLEDs. One has a 1x7 through-hole connector and uses I2C interface. The other has a 1x8 connector and uses SPI interface. These Arduino-ready Modular OLEDs can be utilized as-is to keep the profile of the display extremely thin; or a pin header version can be used for quick and easy connection to an Arduino or other microcontroller platform.
The 2x16 Modular Character OLEDs have castellated mounting holes to keep the footprint small and still support a four-point mounting layout. They also support both standard 2.8V and 5.0V logic levels controlled by a jumper pad on each display’s printed circuit board. The built-in sleep mode on every Modular OLED can optimize current draw even further by dropping below 1mA of power draw in sleep mode while the display image is turned off. In addition to the compact form factor and efficient power draw abilities, these Modular OLEDs have an extra-wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
These new Modular OLED displays also feature all the benefits that OLED technology has to offer. Readability is far superior to similar standard LCD displays with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. These OLEDs have a 10μsec response time, any-angle readability, double-height OLED blue characters, and a crisp image. All of these OLED technology characteristics make these Modular Character OLEDs perform extremely well at their small size.
